Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve closing poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts in the world. While playing net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found playing online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
