NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative feedback from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
He began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
