His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments.
