Focus on Annie Duke

[ English ]

Annie Duke may not have won her first WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but Annie remains one of the most powerful poker competitors around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP win came with a win at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While players from the "young crowd" of poker run wild following a huge success at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mommy" to her four kids. She was born in New Hampshire and was raised into a family of poker players. If you do not believe that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, when he plays, Howard taught Annie the correct way to compete in poker.

However, Annie Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has earned her share of difficult tables, including knocking out Howard a few times on several occasions.

Earning well over 3 million dollars in tournament play, Annie became a advisor to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to sharpen his abilities and become a force in poker.

You might just run into Annie at the Bellagio, you will see her on the tv and you might just even play against her in a web-based poker match, but don’t count on a simple win. Unless you’re a champion-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. although, it is likely to be cool to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
