Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the closing poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While competing in internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the min buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
