NL Hold’em Poker- Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five where he loved gambling on various card games at a young age. He found himself becoming really aggressive in these card games as he was competing against his dad. After finishing secondary school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a bit and moved away to New York City to compete in some formidable chess. While participating in chess, he was brought in to a poker game taking place in the rear of the room. Howard’s 1st 2 years were rough as he would play countless hours and don’t win most times. He made some additional cash by being an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He theorized he might better his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He made an effort to acquire more rest and focus more on the game.
The actual advancement in his game happened when he started betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the the most favorable gamblers would often challenge each other. Howard was able to access some of the foremost players in chess. With their help, Howard would hone his strategic thinking techniques. He used these strategic ideas in the game of No-Limit texas hold’em.
He also helped his sibling Annie Duke master poker. Annie was a superb student of poker as she would always be asking questions about the right way to make the proper decision. Howard Lederer told Annie Duke to head out to Las Vegas and compete in the World Series of Poker competition. Annie Duke is one of the greatest women players the poker arena ever. Howard headed to Las Vegas in 1993 and participated in cash games for the successive 10 years. When the WPT gained popularity, he decided to participate in more tournaments.
