NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
