In fact, you can be brand new at poker and still find poker tournaments that will pit you with other newbies. The greatest part is that you can do it from the comfort of your own abode or any where else that you can connect to the internet.
A good poker room offers a vast selection of games to choose from including holdem, omaha eight-or-better, and 7 Card Stud. There are also a vast selection of competition formats to pick from including single table competitions, multi-table tournaments, and even second chance tournaments. The fees for the events range from very small totals to much bigger sums for big rollers.
